It's been 5 years today that you were taken from us - and it still feels like it has happened all over again. I miss you so much, baby. You are in my thoughts every hour of every day. I miss your beautiful smile, your loving personality - just your whole being. I know you're looking down on us, and even though my heart breaks everyday for you - one day we will be together. I try the best I can to look after your Mom - we have the whole country that separates us - but we talk on the phone a lot. You would be so proud of her - and your Dad and brothers - Brian and Mikey. Tonight's the night that I decided to sit down and write in my blog. I've done a bit of knitting - mostly hats for everyone for Christmas. I made a pair of socks for the Deathbysocks yahoogroup that I'm in. I used an Opal cotton - and just love the way they came out. I'm sure my "victim" will like them. I think they'd be perfect for wearing with jeans. I'll post a pic. I've set aside some of my many other projects OTN - such as Spring Forward Cardigan, Afghan for hubby, another pair of socks - my first magic loop socks, and about 4 other projects (so I can concentrate on some upcoming socks knitting projects). I have them all in a shopping bag - and they go with me every where. I got some great knitting gifts for Christmas - set of Knitpicks needles (the whole sha-bang:), a really pretty wicker knitting basket, a ball winder and swift (love, love, love them), and two great books (from my nephew), Barbara Walkers second treasury, and Crochet Bags - fantastic. I also got a gift certificate from my Mom and sister, Franny for a LYS - Hill Top Yarns (one of my favs). I have a goal for this year - I'm going to keep track of all my knitting projects, rubber stamp projects, scrapbook pages I've completed, books I've read - and sewing projects completed. I know it's a stupid goal, but when I look back I want to know that I've accomplished all my crafty goals. My newest thing is Digital Scrapbooking - which is not going that great. I have Photoshop Elements 5.0 - and I just can't get the layering thing down. It's been frustrating - so I set it aside this past week. But, I'm not going to give up:) BTW, Project Spectrum has started up again, and the colors for Feb and Mar are blue, white and gray. A pair of socks that I'm knitting are blue - so that's one project down. Just have to think of something white and gray. I want to knit something in all three colrs for the two month spread - another little goal:) Well, I'm going to post some pics then knit some more on a piar of socks for a friend - then to bed.

Yikes, it's been awhile since I've posted. I don't have a lot of knitting news - knitted 7 rolled-brim caps, and still working on my hubby's afghan. Finished up quite a few projects - and lining up three to start after the 1st of the year. We did have an incredible storm here last Thursday (Dec 14th) and lost our power. We just got it back tonight at about 9:30 - and we survived it:)Our town was the hardest hit – lost 150 electrical poles along the road outside our development. We had trees and power lines down all over the place, and had family and friends calling from all over to make sure we were ok – as they had heard that Woodinville was hit the hardest. There are only three ways to get to our home – and all three roads were closed. Believe me, after the first couple of days it wasn’t fun anymore. I just kept saying that all my kiddies are home, we’re all together, and we just have to make the best of it. Of course, we lost everything in our frig and freezer – so will have to restock tomorrow. And my goal of making a different Christmas cookie everyday was crushed. I guess we’ll just have to make up for lost time. It’ll be fun baking all day – Christmas Eve. At least we’ll have our Christmas dinner. We were told all along that we might not get power back until Christmas day – or later. But, thanks to so many wonderful men and women from power companies all over the good ole USA we have it back now. We had about 50 power trucks up and down the road last night with crews from Utah, Idaho, Colorado, Montana, Oregon, Delaware, and Washington State. It was amazing – and felt so good to know that so many people were putting their lives on hold, to come here and help out. Believe me the weather hasn’t been the greatest – freezing temps and rain – lots of it. Now we just have to get caught up on everything – doing dishes, laundry, picking up the house, etc. We have been doing a lot of Christmas shopping - so now have a ton to wrap before Christmas Day. It was getting dark here before 4:00pm and believe me, it's no fun wrapping presents in the dark. It just feels so great to finally have our power back. I will post some pics of some of the damage as soon as I can. Also, some knitting pics. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas, and Happy Holidays - I'm off to get another load of laundry going...

Well, my hubby and I are off to Vegas for the Jimmy Buffett concert. We leave bright and early in the AM (exactly 5 1/2 hours). I'm all packed, but just need to decide what knitting projects I'm going to bring. I started a lace scarf - so will bring that, but I don't want to bring anything too big as it takes up too much space. I have a few hours to decide:) I'm really, really tired right now - and not thinking clearly - so I will sign off. I'll post pics as soon as we get back. Hopefully I'll have one or two projects done by the time we return... Have a great weekend

At long last, I am finally updating my blog. My comput problems didn't get solved until mid August and it's taken me until now to finally get everything installed and organized again. What a pain in the you-know-what:) I have done quite a bit of knitting, in addition to some quilting. If I don't have a project close at hand, I will totally go nuts. I carry my knitting bag with me everywhere I go:) I'm sure most of you can relate. On the home front, we now have three kiddies in college - and all going to Washington State University (WSU). Our youngest is 14 - so thank goodness we won't be "empty nesters" for another 4 years. Our puppy, Koda (a Bernese Mountain Dog) is almost 11 months old - and now over 100 lbs. He is the cutest puppy I have ever seen - and I just love him!! I can't believe I'm saying that as I was never a dog lover. He has changed my life forever:) Between now and Christmas things are going to be busy here. I want to make quite a few knitted "items" for my family for Christmas - so I better get moving:) I'll keep you posted...

This is one of the placemats that I made - my first attempt at applique. It was a lot easier then I thought - and so much fun. I took a class at Quiltworks Northwest (in Bellevue, WA), with a great teacher - JB!! Thank you JB for a great time. I have also signed up for the class to make Christmas Ornament placemats - and can't wait!! I'll keep you posted...

I just love, love, love this pattern - the Blue Hawaii Tote (Pursenalities book). It was so much fun to knit - and can't wait to make a few more from both books - Pursenalities and Pursenalities Plus. I plan on making each of my girls one for Christmas. I want to make the Tutu bag for one (with longer handles) and still up in the air for my other two girls.

This is my Spring Forward Cardigan. Just picture this with another 6 inches done - and look at it now. I saw someone else's finished cardi and knew right away that something just wasn't right with one of my cables - so frogged it!! I haven't picked this up (other then taking this picture tonight:) since mid August, but plan on bringing it with me when we go to Vegas this thursday. (Jimmy Buffet concert - yeah, baby) I just love this pattern and the yarn so I will not give up. At least it's not the same frustration level as the afghan that I'm making my hubby. This pattern is so much fun to knit. I'll keep you all posted:)

This afghan is going to be a Christmas present for my adorable hubby. I am knitting Rick - # 9. I just love all the patterns in this booklet, but it was very frustrating at first. I frogged the blasted thing 10 times (and I'm not exaggerating). I was so close to tears one night that I just wanted to toss the whole thing out. I didn't give up, though, and finally figured out my problem. There is a 15 stitch repeat and with 143 stitches OTN, I kept messing up. Well, I finally added stitch markers, (duh:) and I'm home free. This was anything but quick at the beginning. Now I have completed 7 repeats and I'm speeding along. This is my first time using Bernat satin, and I just love it!! I was in Ben Franklin Crafts a few weeks ago and noticed a baby blanket on display using this yarn - it felt heavenly. So, I'm now hooked:)

This is a sweater that I'm knitting for myself. It's a pattern from Hilltop Yarns in Seattle (I bought it at their Bellevue store), but decided to use only one color. The green yarn was going to be a wrap - but decided I wanted a sweater instead. The yarn - Blue Sky Cotton - color # 602. It's a pretty pale lime green. It is just so yummy and I can't wait to finish it. I have the back done and just started the front.

I just love, love, love these scarves!! The green one is just your basic garter stitch. It's yarn that my Mom bought - then we made them together. It was funny because we finished them on the exact same day. I started mine when I was out in New York in May - and one day when I had called her she said - guess what - I just finished my scarf. Well, I was calling her to tell her the same:) I will always cherish this scarf!! The multi scarf is another free pattern (from Tricoter LYS in Seattle) using STR yarn and 3 dirrerent angora yarns. It is so soft and so pretty.

These are all the cloths that I've knitted - 24 and counting. I still have Aug, Sept and Oct's cloths to knit (from MonthlyDishCloths) before I'm caught up. I just love knitting dishcloths as they are quick and easy. I plan on knitting a few for both of my girls that are away at college.

Well, it's been too long since I've posted. Please excuse:) My beloved computer hasn't been working right since the beginning of June and has been "in the shop" for over two weeks now. Seems the "mother board" has gone nuts - and needs to be replaced. I have tried to be patient - but this is just getting to be too much. See how much we depend on these little machines?:) Right now I'm using my daughter, Kristens', lap top - and having a hard time - I want my computer!!! It's been a busy month - I went out to New York for a week to visit my Mom, sisters, brothers and all my beautiful nieces and nephews. My Mom has been fighting cancer - and went through 6 weeks of radiation and chemo. I just found out today that the Doctor said her tumor is gone and feels that the radiation/chemo got rid of the cancer in her lymphnodes. We'll know more on July 19th when my Mom has an MRI or Cat scan (not sure which). We are just praying that the cancer has not spread, and I feel really good about it - as does everyone else. You can't imagine the feeling when my sisters and Mom called this morning with this great news. Mom, I am so proud of you!! On to other news - while in New York I got an early morning call from Kristen. She was in tears and extreme pain. After convincing her to get my hubby up - she ended up in the ER. Long story short - she needed her gall bladder removed. The Doctors felt it was ok for her to wait until I got home for her to have the surgery. If she had had anymore attacks - or had an infection they would have removed it straight away. Everything worked out great - and now she's adjusting to life without her gall bladder. She's only 19 - and we found out that she's the youngest to have her gall bladder removed at our hospital. The Doctor told her she should feel privileged - and told her she had her Dad to thank. My hubby also had his removed and we found out that it's hereditary. Now on to my knitting news. I have been working on my Spring Forward Cardigan (and loving it), made 6 more dishcloths, finished a sock - and working on the mate, started my shawl for The Amazing Lace, and getting ready to start my Socks That Rock Club pattern. I didn't get a chance to knit over the 4th of July as we were so busy - but, this weekend will have plenty of time. On Saturday we are headed over to Pullman WA for Patrick's freshman orientation. He will be joining his two older sisters at WSU in Aug (yup, we will have three kiddies in college:). As I've done this twice before and don't relish the idea of walking up and down all those hills on campus in 100 degree weather, I've decided to stay in my comfy dorm room and knit:) The one thing I'm not looking forward to is the 5 - 51/2 hour drive each way to get to Pullman. We will hit the road bright and early at 7:00 am on Saturday morning. As soon as I get my comput back, I will post pictures - I have a lot to share. Until then...

We had a great Memorial Day weekend - we went over to our home on Lake Chelan - and all my kiddies were home:) It turned out to be a beautiful weekend. I did get a lot of knitting done - worked on my Spring Forward Cardigan, made 8 dish cloths, and worked on a pair of socks. I started the swatch for my Hanne - mermaid, but that's as far as I've gotten. I'm feeling a bit intimidated, and I honestly don't know why. I usually just pick a project and knit, and don't really think about it. I'm just so nervous that I'm not going to have enough yarn. My youngest, Kelly, has her dance recitals this weekend (6 shows - 3 on Sat, and 3 on Sun), and I plan on bringing it with me. I so want to get moving on it. I always volunteer, and will have plenty of time to knit between shows. Oh, forgot to mention, I picked out some green yarn and made my son a hat - so my Project Spectrum is finished. As soon as I take pictures I will post it. It came out nice.

The Project Spectrum color for the month of May is green. I just finished a dishcloth with shades of green - and I will use that unless I can come up with something more creative. I love the color green, but for some reason I don't have any green yarn. Maybe I'll get some yarn and make my son a cap or a scarf. He's a huge NY Jets fan, and, of course, the Jets colors are green and white. Give me a few days to think on it:)

This is the yarn for the Spring Forward Cardigan - which I will start within the next two weeks. I like to have a few bigger projects going at the same time - so I can change off. I'm still trying to finish two other projects before I jump into this, my mermaid and the MSA3. As far as little projects - I always have a pair of socks, one baby sweater, and at least one dishcloth OTN. These are great projects to bring with me whenever I leave the house as I hate to be bored. And, no, I don't drive and knit at the sametime:)

This little stash is to make Chemo Caps for my Mom. She just started radiation and chemo last week, so I want to get started on some caps - and thought she'd like the bright colors. Someone from one of the yahoogroups I'm on mentioned that she uses Microspun for the chemo caps she knits as they are very soft. I'll give it a try. I have a few different patterns in mind - and I'm hoping to have them finished by the time I go out to New York in mid-May.

This is my first Clappy - I used a hand painted merino superwash which I bought at a LYS - so I can't remember the specifics. Anyway, since this clappy, I knitted 3 others and have the last OTN. I enjoy making them - but after I finish this next one I will need a break for awhile. I really want to make four more - one for each of my sisters. I'll start those in Aug. The others I made were for two of my daughters and my Mom. The Clappy OTN is for my youngest daughter.

Here is my Knitting Olympics projects - baby afghan, Yvette's garter stitch baby sweater (based on Beribboned Eyelet Design), and a baby booty. Yes, there's only one there at the moment. Somehow I misplaced one little, tiny booty. If I can't find it - thankfully I have more yarn - so I'll make another. I best hurry and get this sent out before the baby weighs 20 lbs:)

Thought I would keep track of my weight loss. In January I joined a fitness club in Seattle area (The Pro Club) and started exercising. My husband has been a member for about 13 years. The kids and I were members at the "Y" - but as nobody was going decided to cancel our membership there - and just join me at The Pro Club. I also joined a program within The Pro Club called 20/20 Lifestyles. It's a weight loss program - I meet with a trainer 3 times a week, see a dietician once a week, go to group meetings, watch a series of videos, (I think there are about 70 of them), meal track, and see a Doctor every 5 weeks. It honestly feels like a part time job - because, in addition, to exercising three times with my trainer, I also have to exercise two other days. I really love it, and I'm having so much fun. When I started the program all I was eating was 4 protein shakes a day plus 2 servings of protein (chicken, beef, etc) and 1 T peanut butter. In addition I would add 1/2 cup berries to each shake, and take 3 different vitamins. The first week was great - had no problems at all. And, to be honest, it's been pretty easy throughout the past 9 weeks (I'm in my 10th week). Each week (on tues - that's when I meet with my dietician) a food group is added back in. The first week is veggies, then dairy, then most types of fruit (bananas are still out), next was beans and finally grains. You start out with 1 grain and each week increase by 1. So now I can have 3 grains a day. You gradually cut down to 0-1 shakes and less protein. I still can't have potatoes, white rice, a couple of fruits, baked beans - and some other foods that I can't remember at the moment. I have learned so much. Just loosing 36 lbs has lowered my blood pressure - and I feel so much healthier, and stronger. I'm loving it. Anyway, thought I'd share...

I finally got my knitting Olympic project done a week ago. I fell short (way short:) of the gold, but very pleased with the outcome (pictures will come in a few days). I know my cousin will like the baby blanket, sweater and booties. Thought I would post a few pictures. The first is a picture of my son and youngest daughter holding a comfortghan (which I received from one of my yahoogroups - DISHCLOTHSRUS). What a great group of ladies - and the afghan is just beautiful. Thank you:) I will treasure it always. The next couple of pictures are my son and youngest daughter with our new puppy Koda and our cat Maulder. Yes, the puppy has doubled in size. The final picture is of our cat Dusty - who we just lost on March 31st (my hubbies 50th birthday). We love and miss you, Dusty. He came down sick last Tuesday - and he was gone by Friday. It was very sudden and unexpected.

As far as my knitting, I almost have my Triangular Shawl done - and will continue work on the chocolate brown baby blanket. I have some smaller projects to finish up then will start a couple of other big projects. One is the FLAK (I do have the swatches done), the Spring Forward Cardigan, and the Irish Hiking Scarf. I will be busy:)

OOPS, forgot the pictures post from the bottom up. Still learning - but at least they're here. I'll take more pictures of my finished projects in a few days. My goal is to keep up with my blog and not let a month pass before posting again. Not even sure where March went:)

Now, news on my knitting - I finished the baby sweater (Knitting Olympics) and I'm on to the baby blanket. I will post pics as soon as I can. Very pleased with the way the sweater came out. It is definitely a pattern I will knit again. I really need to get moving on the blanket - only 4 more days to go. The puppy takes a lot of time (and I just love it) so didn't even knit today. We had errands to run and took Koda with us. Everywhere we went people came over to see him, some even taking pictures. One man stopped his car and asked us what breed he was. It was fun:)

Well, it's been a while, but I have been working on my Knitting Olympics project. The baby sweater for my cousin is almost done. I have a few more rows to knit - then I can sew up some seams. I am knitting Yvette's Garter Stitch Baby Sweater (from the Babysweaters yahoogroup)- which is based on the Beribboned Eyelet Sweater from Kids, Kids, Kids book. I just love this pattern. At first it was hard to visualize, but now as I near the end, it's beginning to make sense. I have sent some pics - finally figured it out. So now I feel like I'm really a blogger! Yeah:) I have some good news to share - we are picking our puppy up on Saturday. We can't wait!!! We have everything all set - went puppy shopping on Sunday. I'll post a pic of our little Koda (yup, that's his name). On January 27th he weighed 10 lbs 10 oz, and after talking with Gina, we found out he's around 15 lbs. He's a cutie.

It's been a while since I posted, but have some news to share:) I'm in the knitting Olympics (yeah!!), and I'm a member of Team Ireland. My project is a baby blanket, sweater and booties. I will post pictures as I progress. My cousin is having a baby boy - and this set is for her. I have also been working on another baby sweater, baby blanket, Triangular Shawl - for the shawlalong, and, of course, my FLAK (not very far with this). Also, working on a Clappy for my daughter Kelly. I will post pictures of all my projects soon. But, I will be setting everything aside for the Olympics.

This is my very first post on my Blog, and is actually one of my New Years resolutions - to start my own blog!! At least I know that I accomplished one of my resolutions:) My sister, Julie (who lives in New York) also started her own blog today. We had so much fun talking on the phone getting her blog set up. Now I just need to convince my other two sisters, Donna and Franny, to start one.
Once I can figure everything out, I will post some pictures of my beautiful kiddies, fantastic hubby, our new puppy (we're getting updates and pictures from our breeder, Gina - and will be ecstatic new parents on Feb 15th), and some knitting projects that I'm working on. I'm doing two knitalongs - one from the Aran Yahoogroups and the other from the Knittingnovices List. The first is a sweater and the second a shawl.
